Ken’s philosophy is to create opportunities to reach out into the community to bring joy to all music lovers.
This was born out of many decades of performing with local bands/musicians—all part of Calgary’s music history. It all began with the awesome music teacher Roy Dow (VBHS). His early music experience included The Soul Men, the rock band Enterprise (included Ron Casat RIP on keyboards & Murray Kinsley on Tenor Sax-Wicked Grin) which earned the band the label “A Pale Shade of BS&T”…Montreal Gazette) —followed by a stint with U of C Jazz Band with Ward Cole featuring the fabulous Eric Friedenberg on lead sax), the early Doug Fox Band, Westwinds Jazz Orchestra, Hippocratic Oath Big Band & numerous local community bands in past years.
Ken also joined many unique rehearsal sessions lead by drummer Gary de Boeck & Keyboard genius (Bob Erlendson and Friends).
After a long successful career in geology, Ken has established EH TRAIN & also now enjoys giving back to the community by teaching students to appreciate the saxophone & aerophone through encouragement, enthusiasm, and passion for music.
