Malissa Rush is a Calgary-based jazz vocalist & lead vocalist for EH TRAIN EHGHT. Malissa continues to captivate audiences with her dynamic stage presence & is known for her fresh interpretations of jazz standards, blending modern nuance with classic soul. Her goal is to have a vocal big band jazz album.
Malissa’s love for music began early, influenced by her parents’ eclectic taste. She found her true passion in jazz/modern pop, drawing inspiration from legends like Ella Fitzgerald & modern artists like Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.
Starting out in musical theatre, Malissa stepped away for several years, then participated in jazz workshops & performed in local musical productions, jazz showcases, & the vocal group The Extremities. In 2024 she was in the top 10 finalists in the National Music Centre’s Mid-Autumn Star singing competition—taking 3rd place.
